HOME > ABOUT TAI

TAI supports individuals to improve their own lives with minimal dependency. Children, young people and women are at the core of this mission. However, to be able to reach children, young people and women, men, male parents and male care takers play a pivotal role. TAI employs strategies such as Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC), empowerment, community philanthropy and evidence-based advocacy.

Our History

TAI was founded in 2014 by a group of Tanzanian academics and development experts to address the need for attitude change in supporting children, youth, women, and communities. Recognizing that lasting change requires more than programming—it needs research and mindset shifts—they posed a powerful question: how can Africans move from dependence to independence? Led by Mr. Jonathan Kifunda, Dr. Asha Salimu, and Dr. Mwajuma Gumbo, TAI was born with the bold philosophy of Thubutu—“to dare.” The belief: real progress comes not from imitation, but from daring to create your own change through access to knowledge, opportunity, and critical thinking.

Empowered Minds. Independent Lives.
